Mosquito's Requiescat

by Michelle Ruemping

Oh, little mosquito,
How I hate thee
As you whine in my ear,
Oh so annoyingly.

You buzz through the air
With grace and agility.
Your landings are artful
As you land on me.

You steady yourself
With speed and dignity,
Then poke through my skin
Which I just happen to see.

Poor little mosquito,
Never to fly again.
At least since your body
Met with my hand.

Oh, little squished mosquito,
A pity you cannot see
What uncaring nature I use
When flicking you off of me.

Oh, little mosquito,
How I hate thee
As you whine in my ear,
Oh so annoyingly.
