Sideways glancing is for interest or hostility, depending on how its combined with other body gestures. When served with a smile, sideways glancing communicates interest, whereas if combined with down-turned eyebrows or a furrowed brow, it signals a hostile or critical attitude.

feel superior to others; it generates a negative reaction.

A common belief is that you should look a person in the eyes when you talk to him, as eyes may well give accurate clues to a person's thoughts and reflect what they may think about you. So next time you want to lie, wear black sunglasses, or else you're better off not lying.
