Stupid Friends

by Kara, age 16, from US

"AHHH!" she woke up as her annoying friends stared at her, smiling.
"Leave me alone! I need sleep! Go away!" She mumbled incoherently as
her friends laughed histerically. 'Stupid friends.' she thought,
miserably as she went back to bed. It was the usual party.

They all stayed up until about 4 watching movies. And as usual she fell asleep soon after, and her friends were bugging her while she slept until
she either slept talked or half woke up and started mumbling. They
were so immature. She just couldn't take it; next time she would
leave. They've been making fun of the time she babbled something
about "I'm going to leave. I really will!" and she was getting sick
of it. So what if she couldn't stay up that late all the time? She
did it before, just not at certain parties. Stupid friends.
She woke up the next day and took the jokes at her expense in
stride. It wasn't all of her friends. They weren't all there, but it
was really only three of them.

When she got home she went to bed and fell asleep immediately. But
not for long, she had to go to work soon. Man, sometimes she just
wished she didn't have a job at all. But she liked the money so much.
In two hours she got up, got ready for work and left. Her lucky day,
she only had to work eight hours today. After work, she went back
home and right back up to bed.

A few months later her friends had another party. It was the same
old thing; movies until early morning and her getting needed sleep
interrupted by some asshole friends. She woke up with their faces an
inch from her with a feather, trying to barely tickle her.

She couldn't take it anymore. "I can't believe you jerks!"

They just laughed even more. "OK, you know what? I'm not half asleep and I'm telling you: this isn't funny." They almost stopped laughing, but
then they saw the tired, no, exausted look on her face. "It's annoying as hell! OK? So stop. It was never funny except to you three." That seemed to sober them up a little. "You know what? I'm really going to leave. I don't care if I shouldn't drive this late. I'm sick of your shit! Go ahead and laugh some more," which they gladly did. To her disapointed surprise.

"I don't care anymore." With that she walked out the door. Her friends sat in their sleeping bags in shock.

"See what you did now." Said one of her sensible friends. "You guys have been asking for that. You were getting real mean."

Things were awkward for awhile, but at least they never bothered her again.
